Transparency & Trust

Our AI Use Policy

SD Medical Nutrition Therapy PC is committed to being fully transparent about how artificial intelligence supports — but never replaces — your personalized clinical care.

Last updated: July 2026 · In compliance with California AB 3030 & AB 489
Our Commitment

Your care is always human-first.

Artificial intelligence is a tool — not a clinician. At SD Medical Nutrition Therapy PC, I use AI in limited, clearly defined ways to help run a more efficient practice. But every nutritional diagnosis, treatment plan, laboratory interpretation, and clinical recommendation you receive comes from me — Andrea Zajac, RDN — based on my professional training and my personal assessment of your unique health history.

This page explains exactly how AI is and isn't used in my practice, in plain language — because you deserve to know.

AI supports my work. It never replaces my judgment.

Every clinical decision made about your nutrition and health is made by a board-certified, licensed human dietitian who knows your case.

How AI Is Used

What AI does — and what it doesn't

I want to be completely clear about the role AI plays in my practice. Here is an honest breakdown:

✓ AI IS used for
  • Website content drafting, design & formatting
  • Patient education material formatting
  • Administrative communications & scheduling
  • Marketing copy & social media drafting
  • Research literature assistance
  • Document formatting & organization
✕ AI is NEVER used for
  • Nutritional diagnoses of any kind
  • Creating your personalized treatment plan
  • Interpreting your laboratory results
  • Making clinical decisions about your care
  • Sending clinical information without my review
  • Independently communicating with patients

Patient Communications

How I communicate with you

If AI is ever used to assist in drafting a communication that contains clinical information about your care, that communication is read and personally reviewed by Andrea Zajac, RDN before it is sent to you. This is both my personal commitment and a requirement under California law.

You will always have the ability to contact a human — me — directly. I do not use AI chatbots or automated systems to respond to patient inquiries about clinical care.

Legal Compliance

California AI laws that govern this practice

As a California-licensed Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, I am subject to and in compliance with the following California AI disclosure laws:

Applicable California Law
  • California AB 3030 (effective January 1, 2025) — Requires healthcare providers who use generative AI to produce patient communications containing clinical information to include a disclaimer and provide instructions on how to contact a human provider. Any AI-assisted clinical communication I send is reviewed by me before delivery, meeting the human review exemption.
  • California AB 489 (effective January 1, 2026) — Prohibits AI systems from using terms or design elements that imply the AI possesses a healthcare license. No AI tool used in this practice implies or suggests it is a licensed dietitian or healthcare provider.
  • Andrea Zajac, RDN retains full clinical responsibility for all nutritional diagnoses, treatment decisions, and patient care recommendations made through this practice.

AI regulation in healthcare is evolving rapidly. I am committed to reviewing and updating this policy at least annually and whenever significant new laws take effect. If you have questions about compliance, please contact me directly.
